Tweed Osprey Group Reports

Tweed Osprey Group Reports

We have annual reports going back to the 1990s. If you require reports from earlier times please contact us.

Brief Summary

Based on 29 years of monitoring data, an average of 14 osprey chicks are confirmed to fledge each year. A total of 412 osprey fledglings have been confirmed over the last 29 years of monitoring in Tweed Shire. Nest monitors record annual fledgling results as both confirmed and possible; the latter where positive identification of fledglings has not been made but chicks are assumed to have fledged. Including the possible fledglings, that overall number could be closer to 420.

We need people to help out monitoring nests during breeding seasons, which typically run from about April to November.

If you have the time, a pair of binoculars and would like to help out, we would really appreciate it!
